EFIC, the European Furniture Industries Confederation welcomes the New Circular Economy Action Plan published by the European Commission on 11 March 2020, strongly supports circularity ambitions and is ready to be involved in making circular economy – a key enabler of the EU’s climate and environmental goals – a reality. Much remains to be determined in the path to circularity. This paper provides recommendations on the need for harmonised Circular Economy rules at EU level (including definitions and a harmonised EPR scheme for furniture) and for a step-by-step and value chain approach.  The paper also deep dives into different phases of furniture lifecycle, from production to consumption and waste management.
